The Technical Area
Fantasy Football Done Right
introduction
The Technical area was a project to combine the best bits of Fantasy football we play in the UK, with the best bits of the USA version. This was one of the first draft style games, including player trades, no positional caps and many more original features still not found in the official Premier League fantasy football.
design
The technical area was developed in C# MVC on an Azure SQL backend. There were a number of services running to process game updates and to keep track of time sensitive information. All this was hooked up to allow players to be emailed important bits of information throughout the gameweeks.

Key Features
- Live(ish) game and points updates.
- Head to head pitch views.
- Flexible player trading.
- League news feeds.
- Presentation style drafting for in-person events.
- Intelligent auto-drafting for when players are unable to be at the season opener.
Originally written as a private project for out group of fantasy football loving friends, we took part in 3 seasons of games, each season with new features (although none which allowed me to actually win!) Development of this project slowed down once the Premier League announced their official Draft Fantasy Football game, although to this day the Technical Area had more features and more flexibility, but the one thing it didn’t have was the millions of worldwide players!
